Role of Natcom

The St. Kitts and Nevis National Commission for UNESCO was established in 1991. It operates as an agency of the Ministry of Education and Information of the Government of St. Christopher (Kitts) and Nevis. It is charged with the responsibility of placing on the national agenda, global issues which are relevant to national development and International co-operation. UNESCO then acts as a facilitating agency in activating or catalizing the advancement of human development by way of technical or other forms of assistance. National Commissions in collaboration with UNESCO effect positive human development by way of strategic programmes and other interventions. The specific issues are addressed as part of UNESCO’s priority areas which are felt to significantly impact the human experience by encouraging dialogue and action.

The St Kitts and Nevis National Commission engages governmental and non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders on current concerns and opportunities. It prides itself in being a proactive team of individuals with passionate interest in providing expert advice in their respective fields of influence including Education, Science, Communications and Culture.
