NATCOM (SKN) – Basseterre: July 30, 2013: The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has nominated Dr. David P. Doyle as Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), based in Paris.
Dr. Doyle who lives in France has been the Federation’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO since April 2006 and also serves as the Honorary Consul of St. Kitts and Nevis to France.
Working closely with the National Commission for UNESCO chaired by Secretary General Mr. Antonio Maynard, Dr. Doyle has been active in giving advice and securing UNESCO technical expertise and funding to implement programmes on the ground in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Dr. Doyle is a former Irish diplomat with roles spanning bi-lateral and multi-lateral assignments, notably with the Irish Trade Mission and the OECD. He is the founding Co-Chairman of the SIDS Committee of Representatives to UNESCO (2006), and a vice-president on the Circle of Permanent Delegates to UNESCO (2009). He also facilitates dialogue between Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) on behalf of the Embassy of the Eastern Caribbean States in Brussels, focused on building a better understanding of the Caribbean States’ needs in terms of technical expertise and funding from the EU.
The UNESCO website salutes Dr Doyle as being a long standing member of the Board of the joint MEP-EU industry body, The Kangaroo Group, and secretary to its financial Services Working Group, he also sits on the board of the joint UK cross- parliamentary SME group, the Genesis Initiative, and is active in the Transatlantic Business Dialogue (TABD).
His authored works include Cost Control- A Strategic Guide (CIMA/Elsevier: London, 1994 and 2002) which was translated into 15 foreign languages, as well as contributing EU chapters to The Future of Finance after SEPA (Wiley: London, 2008), and A Practical Guide to Corporate Governance (Sweet ^ Maxwell: London, 2010)
